The Observatory School is looking to appoint a Science Teacher to work within the school's Knowledge curriculum faculty. This could be either part time or full time if you have ability to deliver across other curricular areas and this should be indicated on your application.
This job comes at the most critical junction in the school's development, where we are spearheading the development and opening of the third campus whilst we are still building the second.
You will play a key part in this journey and will be supported by an exceptional Science leader, a wider Knowledge faculty team and a team of Assistant Headteachers, Heads of School, Executive Headteacher and Governors.
You will form an important link between the Leasowe and Vyner Campus. In the first instance you will work at the Vyner Campus, but from September 24 your main place of work will be at the Leasowe Campus in a brand new state of the art science teaching laboratory delivering science to KS3 students. It is hoped that you will also play a role in nurturing a love of science for KS2 learners.
As a member of our Science Department, you will not only deliver captivating lessons but will also have the incredible opportunity to lead and participate in our award-winning extra-curricular STEM activities. Our dedicated STEM team has garnered prestigious trophies at both regional and national levels, showcasing their exceptional talent in events such as the FIRST Tech Robotics Challenge. You will also be technically skilled and able to manage your own prep-room work.
Your knowledge, skills and experience are important, but so will be your emotional intelligence and resilience. Expectations will be high, challenges you have never faced before will come from all directions and the expectation will be on you to meet them in line with the vision of school.
The Observatory School is an extraordinary place of work and to meet our team's expectations, you will be an extraordinary individual with a proven track record. In return we offer the opportunity to work with our area's most extraordinary children, we will say, the area's most resilient and cohesive and supportive staff team and a working day is never the same as the last.
