Brookdale Primary School is recruiting a brand-new school kitchen team, and we are looking for enthusiastic, friendly and committed people to join us.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Brookdale at the beginning of a new chapter for our school catering service. We want to create a kitchen team who are proud of the food they produce, enjoy working together and, most importantly, understand the difference that a nutritious, appealing and enjoyable school lunch can make to a child's day.

Specialist support from RPJ3. Our kitchen team is supported by our catering consultants, RPJ3, who work alongside the school to provide professional advice, guidance and training. Successful applicants will have access to ongoing specialist support and development.

Our Assistant Cook will work closely with the Catering Manager to support the preparation and production of fresh, nutritious and appealing meals for our pupils.

The role will involve food preparation and production, supporting the lunch service, maintaining excellent hygiene and safety standards and helping the kitchen run efficiently each day.

The Assistant Cook will also be expected to step up and take responsibility for the catering service in the absence of the Catering Manager.

We are looking for someone with good practical catering skills, excellent interpersonal skills and a genuine enthusiasm for producing food that children will enjoy. You will also benefit from the training and professional support provided to the kitchen team by RPJ3.

What we are looking for
have a positive and enthusiastic approach to their work.
enjoy working as part of a team.
have high expectations for food quality, hygiene and presentation.
understand the importance of providing children with healthy, balanced and appealing meals.
are friendly, approachable and able to build positive relationships with children and colleagues.
are reliable, organised and willing to contribute to the wider life of the school.
are keen to learn and develop through the training and support available.
understand that safeguarding is everyone's responsibility and are willing to undertake all required safeguarding training.

Relevant catering experience and qualifications will be required or desirable depending on the role. Full details can be found within the individual job descriptions and person specifications.
Why Brookdale?

At Brookdale, lunchtime is an important part of the school day. We want our children to look forward to their school meals and to experience a welcoming, positive and enjoyable lunchtime.
This recruitment gives us the opportunity to establish a completely new kitchen team, who can work together from the outset to develop a service they are proud of.

The team will not be doing this alone. Our specialist catering consultants, RPJ3, work in partnership with the school and will provide ongoing training, advice and professional support to help our new team establish and continually develop an excellent catering service.
We are particularly interested in applicants who share our ambition to provide a fresh, nutritious and child-focused catering service and who want to become a valued part of the Brookdale team.
If you are passionate about good food, enjoy working with people and would like the opportunity to help shape our new school kitchen team, we would love to hear from you.

Safeguarding
Brookdale Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment.
Successful applicants will be subject to the school's safer recruitment procedures, including satisfactory references and appropriate pre-employment checks. An enhanced DBS check with children's barred list information will be required where applicable.
