The Governors of Cathcart Street Primary School are seeking to appoint a motivated, passionate, and caring Assistant Headteacher from September 2026 with responsibility for SEND and Inclusion. We are a nurturing, inclusive primary school with a committed staff team, enthusiastic pupils, and a community that is proud of the progress we are making. We are now seeking an Assistant Headteacher to lead on SEND and Inclusion across the school - someone who will champion high standards, nurture staff development, and help us continue to grow with positivity and purpose.

Job overview

Purpose of role:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement school-wide strategies for SEND, inclusion, and pastoral development.
  • SENDCO Duties: Act as the school's SENCO, overseeing the EHCP process, identifying needs, and implementing effective interventions.
  • Staff Development: Lead on teacher training and professional development regarding inclusive teaching practices.
  • Inclusion Oversight: Lead, manage, and hold staff to account for the provision and outcomes of vulnerable groups supporting with the overseeing of our two nurture provisions.
  • Compliance & Monitoring: Ensure compliance with statutory frameworks and use data effectively to track progress and report to governors.
  • Enhance, uphold and take responsibility for promoting positive behaviour and inclusion across the whole school

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Equipped to support and develop the school's ethos
  • Committed to safeguarding the welfare and wellbeing of children, staff, and visitors
  • Excellent team player who will work closely with all team members
  • Proven track record as a highly effective classroom practitioner
  • Successful experience as a middle or senior leader in a primary school
  • Proven impact in SEND / behaviour management
  • Strong track record of improving outcomes for pupils
  • Experience of coaching, mentoring, or supporting colleagues
