The Governors and Headteacher of Bedford Drive Primary School are looking for an exceptional candidate to fulfil the position of Family Support and Safeguarding Officer. The postholder will be the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead. The post is ideally suited to someone with drive, resilience, determination and someone who thrives on a challenge.

This is a key position within our school community, offering the opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of our pupils and their families. The successful candidate will be passionate about safeguarding and committed to promoting the welfare of children. They will provide support, guidance, and early intervention to families, helping to overcome barriers to learning and wellbeing.

The main focus of the role will be to:

  • Support the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), ensuring safeguarding policies and procedures are effectively implemented and followed throughout the school.
  • Complete safeguarding referrals, complete DLE¿s and lead on TAF meetings.
  • Work directly with vulnerable children and families, providing early help, support, and intervention to improve outcomes and reduce risks.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure a coordinated approach to family support and child protection.
  • Identify and assess needs, creating and delivering support plans to help remove barriers to learning and promote children's emotional, social, and academic development.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions, maintaining accurate and confidential records in line with statutory requirements.
  • Support children who display challenging behaviours and support them to access relevant support.
  • Contribute to the wider pastoral care of the school, working closely with teaching and support staff to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all pupils.
  • Lead and facilitate parent workshops and groups based on the current needs of the school.
  • Work with the attendance team to support vulnerable children and those at risk of EBSA.
